What CarPal GI is — and what it isn't

CarPal GI provides tools to help you research used car listings and conduct a guided visual pre-purchase inspection. CarPal GI is an informational tool, not a professional inspection service.

• CarPal GI guided inspections are conducted by you, not by a certified mechanic.
• Our repair cost estimates are approximations based on common issues for the model — they are not quotes.
• Our market analysis is based on publicly available listing data — it is not an appraisal.
• Our browser extension verdicts are AI-generated assessments based on listing data — they are not professional evaluations.
• A CarPal GI report does not guarantee the condition, history, or value of any vehicle.
• Service interval information provided by CarPal GI reflects North American specifications and general community guidance. Always verify service intervals with a qualified mechanic or the manufacturer's official documentation for your specific vehicle.

CarPal GI is not a substitute for a professional mechanical inspection by a licensed mechanic. We strongly recommend obtaining a professional pre-purchase inspection before completing any vehicle purchase.

Beta

CarPal GI is currently in beta. The Service is provided in its current form and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued without notice. Features, coverage, and accuracy of market data and AI-generated verdicts will improve over time. During beta, we make no guarantees about uptime, data completeness, or the accuracy of any analysis output.

Using CarPal GI

You may use CarPal GI for personal, non-commercial use to research vehicles you are considering purchasing. You agree not to:

• Use CarPal GI in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from CarPal GI
• Use automated tools to abuse the free analysis features
• Resell, sublicense, or commercialize CarPal GI's output without our written consent
• Misrepresent CarPal GI reports in a way that could deceive buyers or sellers

Browser extension

The CarPal GI browser extension reads used car listing page content on supported platforms solely to provide market analysis and AI-generated verdicts. By installing the extension you agree that CarPal GI may read and process listing content on supported platforms as described in our Privacy Policy. The extension is available to users in the United States and Canada.

Guided Inspections

CarPal Guided Inspection sessions are available via the mobile app at checkcarpal.com. Preliminary checks are available free of charge. Full inspection access requires a one-time payment per inspection session. Payment is processed by Stripe. By purchasing an inspection you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Refund policy: Because inspection sessions involve API costs incurred immediately upon purchase, we generally do not offer refunds once an inspection session has been accessed. If you experience a technical problem that prevents you from completing your inspection, contact us at support@checkcarpal.com and we will work to resolve it.

Intellectual property

CarPal GI and its content — including the inspection check content, scoring logic, service interval data, and interface — are owned by CarPal Guided Inspections and protected by copyright. You may download and share your own inspection report for personal use. You may not reproduce or distribute CarPal GI's check content or interface without permission.

When you submit listing data for analysis, you grant CarPal GI a limited license to process that content for the purpose of providing the analysis you requested. We do not claim ownership of your content.

Disclaimer of warranties

CarPal GI is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• CarPal GI will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Analysis results, verdicts, or inspection content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your purposes
• Market pricing data reflects actual transaction prices
• Repair cost estimates reflect actual repair costs you will incur
• Service interval information is accurate for your specific vehicle or market
• AI-generated verdicts reflect the true condition or value of any vehicle

Your use of CarPal GI and any decisions you make based on its output are entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CarPal Guided Inspections and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service, including but not limited to: financial losses from a vehicle purchase, repair costs not predicted by a CarPal GI inspection, or reliance on CarPal GI market analysis or AI-generated verdicts.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of CarPal GI shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific inspection session that is the subject of the claim.

Third-party services

CarPal GI integrates with third-party services including Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI analysis), Marketcheck (market pricing data), NHTSA (vehicle recall data), and Supabase (database hosting). Your use of these services through CarPal GI is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party services.

Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue CarPal GI or any part of it at any time. We may also update these terms. Continued use of CarPal GI after changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.
